The following is a letter from Robert Protano about his decision not to run for re-election to the Planning Board:
After much thought and consideration, I have decided not to seek re-election to the Planning Board in May 2012. I have been on the Planning Board for 27 years since 1985. I firmly believe it’s time for me to pass the torch by providing an opening for someone with fresh enthusiasm and ideas – someone who cares about the town of Sterling as much as I have and still do.
I want to thank all who have supported me and who have voted for me over the years. It has truly been interesting, pleasurable, and sometimes exciting to be a member and chair of the Planning Board.
I hope my presence on the Sterling Planning Board has made a positive difference for the town. I’d like to thank past and present members of the Planning Board with whom I have served, and offer a thank you to all other board members, committee members, and employees of the town. It has been a pleasure to work beside you.
My most sincere thank you goes to the residents of Sterling for the opportunity you have provided for me to serve the town.
Robert Protano, Chairman
Sterling Planning Board
