The annual census forms will be in mailboxes during the last week of December. Return the form(s) to Town Clerk, 1 Park St, Sterling, MA  01564, by February 1. Forms may also be dropped into the box in front of the Butterick Municipal Building, or scan and email to AsstTownClerk@Sterling-ma.gov. The town clerk is required by state law to mail census forms to every household. Former town residents cannot be removed from the voting list without their signature and new address on file. Census information is used by the state to allocate school budgets, Chapter 90 funds and other state aid, and by local police and fire departments to obtain accurate household information for public safety reasons.
